The paper then merged with the Commonwealth (Daytona, Fla.) in Aug. 1898 to become the Gazette-news and commonwealth, but the two papers separated again in Dec. 1898, becoming Gazette-news (Daytona, Fla.) and Commonwealth (Daytona, Fla. : 1898). The name was changed to Daytona gazette-news in Feb. 1902 and continued publication until 1922, when it ceased. From Dec. 1, 1903, to the end of publication, a daily edition of the paper was issued, the Daytona daily news. The daily edition continued to be published after the Daytona gazette-news ceased.
