Summary:
These are manuscript amulets written for Marimah (called Miriyam on the second amulet) bat Masʻudah, who was sick and staying at a hospital. The first amulet contains ciphers and prayers in a scheme surrounding a grid with the words מכשפה לא תחיה (sorceresses must not live, from Exodus 22:17; this custom assumes that the hidden meaning of the verse is to refer to demons) with a prayer for the recovery of Marimah and the safety of the hospital workers. The second amulet is an invocation of the healing angels and a prayer against "demons, demonesses, Lilin (a male Lilith), Lilith, ailments of the heart, séances, and depressions". First amulet written in a Moroccan semicursive script, with ciphers on heading in a Moroccan square script; second amulet written in a Moroccan cursive script, with angel names in a Moroccan square script. Both items previously folded into jewelery and worn as amulets.
