A label reading "Texts worked by Anna Marial, Church Crookham Scholar, 1860," written in cursive script by a different hand, is pinned to two smaller pieces of needlework embroidered with the text Un ciruṣṭikarai un valipattin nāḷkkaḷil niṉai (Remember your creator in the days of your youth (Ecclesiastes 12:1)), one in red and one in green thread, and one narrow piece of needlework on a ribbon backing, perhaps intended as a bookmark, with the embroidered text Karuttar ungalodirukkakkaṭavar (May the lord be with you). The large sampler and the bookmark each have remnants of matching embroidery floss knotted in one corner. (Cataloging assistance from Savita Ananthan)
