- Summary:
- This is a manuscript note written by Barukh Schick of Shkloŭ for his memorizing a mathematical principle which he had written in his books; this is indicated in the first two lines ("זכרון דברים דעלמא לדעת חכמה ובינה חשבון אשר יקח אחר חשבון כדמוכח מספרי ב'") and after indicating that it is described in his book, signs "B'". The purpose of the note was likely for teaching or speaking while traveling, and the writing is in shorthand and difficult to source in Schick's writings (one place in his books where prime number axioms are discussed is the first principle in his Ḳeneh ha-midah (ed. Shkloŭ, printed by Arye-Leib b. Sheraga-Feivush, 1793, p. 1a), there on prime and composite numbers, and this manuscript contains an example of declensions of three). The style of the manuscript is that a riddle is posed, and then answered conceptually (likely as a pedagogic tool). Schick was often traveling and teaching, and may have written this as a reminder of a lesson.
