- Summary:
- Horse of mud captures the dignity of Cairo's poor. The primitive process of brick making is examined, revealing the monotonous choreography of a nonetheless meaningful social task.
- Sad song of Touha is in many ways the sister film to Horse of mud, a fascinating portrait of Cairo's street performers.
- The sandwich portraits a detailed account of the women of a rural Egyptian village as they make and then bake loaves of bread by hand. The film then shifts its focus to the children of the village as they play together, herd sheep and climb trees while one boy makes a sandwich with the new bread.
