Includes notes on Lord Lawrence's memorandum on Central Asia, copies of Russian government correspondence relating to the Caucasus, letters from the Astarabad and Meshed agents, correspondence from the Indian Foreign Department enclosing extracts from the Kabul Agent's diary, correspondence between Lord Northbrook and the British Legation in Tehran, and a translation of a letter from the Shah, regarding a fort at Krasnovodsk. Further correspondence considers Russian activity around Atrek, refugees in Khorasan, the Teke, Herat, Ayub Khan, unrest in Afghanistan, and Russian activities including an expedition to Khiva.
