Summary:
This is a manuscript of Hebrew lyric poetry written to celebrate Shavuot 5605 (June 10-12, 1845), in honor of two yeshivas, Mayim ḥayim and Somekh noflim. This is an example of a specific genre of composition for use as tools of fundraising, often for yeshivas or Jewish schools, which originated in 17th century Amsterdam and spread to Italy during the 18th and 19th centuries. Written in four stanzas of four lines, with the acrostic spelling the author's first name (Yitsḥaḳ, יצחק); written in an Italian cursive script, with title, institution names, and opening word for each stanza in an Italian square script. Item originated in Italy, likely in a city with yeshivas (such as Livorno or Pesaro).
