Summary:
Booklet which refers to his research and discovery that cholera is invariably preceded by diarrhoea and if that can be cured the patient may be saved. Earlier outbreaks of the disease (1817, 1831, 1849, 1853) are referred to and detailed descriptions of 124 cases in 1855 are given. He maintains that there is a link between laxatives, diarrhoea and cholera.
