- Summary:
- This is an illuminated ketubah (a Jewish marriage contract) on parchment, written and signed in Tétouan, Morocco on 8 Kislev 5652 (December 6, 1891) for the marriage of Yehudah ben Yaʻaḳov Azenḳoṭ (referred to as "the eminent", a Torah scholar) to ʻAlyaa Alḥadad (bat Yitsḥaḳ; a family of Cohanim), witnessed by Shemuʼel Yiśraʼel and Yitsḥaḳ Barg'ilo (Tétouan dayanim, rabbinical judges). Document is illuminated; an architechtural scheme (three Persian dome motifs) drawn in black with gold highlights; leafy vine decorations in greens and reds, around two sets of Cohanim finger-formations (each of the four hands also designed as a khamsa); written in a Moroccan cursive script (text) with highlights in a large Moroccan square script; חי exaggerated at center left in calligraphy.
