- Summary:
- This is a manuscript parchment leaf that was to accompany a Megillah presented to a groom as a wedding gift, on which the scribe wrote the blessings preceding and following the public Megillah reading on Purim with good wishes to the groom. The groom was Mosheh Shunshul (likely of an Izmir family with the same name), and the manuscript originated in Turkey during the early 19th century. Written in two columns inside two frames of double bounding lines ruled in lead, with gold and green floral filigree designs and patterns inside the frame columns; written in a Turkish square script. Gift inscription inside drawn enclosures above blessings, forming a design of two tablets; four tughras, two in each column, separate the blessings from the poetic stanzas which follow the Megillah reading.
