- Many children face the daily despair of homelessness in Orange County, CA, one of the wealthiest regions of the U.S. Living with parents or guardians in low-rent motels, their childhoods are in limbo as their families struggle to survive. This film chronicles one summer in the lives of children of the working poor. These 'motel kids' end up iwth a lifestyle devoid of hope and dreams, mitigated only by their imagination and youthful exuberance.
