- 英华书院(TheAnglo-ChineseCollege)是近代来华基督教新教传教士创办的第一所教会学校.因其在中外文化交流史及中国基督教史上的重要地位, 受到国内外学术界关注.虽然学界在英华书院研究上取得了一些颇具意义的成果, 但不足也是极为明显的:一是已有研究几乎全部多集中于马六甲办学时期, 对英华书院香港办学时期(1843-1873)鲜有论及;二是对英华书院如何促进基督教中国本色化探究较少;三是对英华书院如何促进英国乃至西方汉学发展缺乏系统梳理.鉴于此, 本书从文化交流视阈对英华书院进行全景式, 全时段研究, 揭示其在中国教会学校史, 中国基督教史, 西方汉学史乃至中西文化交流史上的重要地位.
