Summary:
The Mexican Symposium on Medical Physics (MSOMP) is the official meeting of the Medical Physics Division of the Mexican Physics Society and has been organized since 1997. In 2020, for the first time, the MSOMP was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the MSOMP was to provide a space of collegiate discussion on medical physics in the dawn of precision medicine. The topics that were covered were the following: 1. Use of non-ionizing and ionizing radiation for medical imaging and therapy 2. Image processing, quantitative imaging, and radiomics 3. Biological physics 4. Physiological measurements 5. Mathematical methods in medical physics 6. Educational and professional issues The conference proceedings provide an overview of the state of research done in academic and clinical institutions in Mexico and countries throughout the Americas, as well as current educational and professional issues related to the field.
