Biography/History:
Professor Frances Separovic is a Biophysical Chemist and deputy director of the Bio21 Institute, University of Melbourne, Australia. Her research group studies the structure and dynamics of molecules in biological membranes, with a focus on peptide antibiotics and toxins, primarily using solid-state NMR techniques. Frances is a Fellow of the Biophysical Society, International Society of Magnetic Resonance and the Australian Academy of Science; an IUPAC Distinguished Women of Chemistry and an Officer of the Order of Australia. Dr. Marc-Antoine Sani is a senior research fellow at the School of Chemistry, University of Melbourne. His expertise precesses around DNP NMR and solid-state NMR of biomolecules, with a particular focus on in-cell studies. He obtained his PhD jointly from Umeå University and Bordeaux University. He is an editorial board member of ANZMAGazine and the Victorian representative for the Australian Society for Biophysics.
Summary:
The purpose of this book is to describe the methodology and applications of solid-state NMR spectroscopy to studies of membrane proteins, membrane-active peptides and model biological membranes. As well as structural studies, this book contains coverage of membrane interactions and molecular motions. Advances in biological solid-state NMR are very pertinent with high-field developments seeing applications in biological membranes and whole cells. Experts who are leaders in the development and application of biological solid-state NMR are chapter contributors. Part of Biophysical Society-IOP series.
