- Summary:
- From the perspective of business group control, this teaching case describes the transformation and transition of control modes in BAIC evolving as a group company. After introducing current issues facing BAIC 'Group's architecture designer, such as whether and how to differentiate the control modes for various business units, this case gives a brief description of BAIC's business profiles and its grouping trajectory. Following the periodic transformation of BAIC's group control system coupled with the change of grand strategy, the major difference of business control models between BAIC Motor and the Vehicles Division is elaborated, and then the key points and challenges in carrying out differentiated/classified control systems are demonstrated. The final part of the case encourages students to consider how to plan and implement the differential control system in the vertically integrated business group with diversified product and multiple ownership structure.
