Summary:

The ASBL Art Research Institute offers an original work devoted to a construction included in the inventory of Wallonia's heritage: the Manoir de Strud (Haltinne). It is based on historical and archaeological research carried out by Hendrik Doperé and his son Frans in the 1970s and following. Hendrik Doperé (1910-1995) traces the succession of the various feudatories and owners from the house that was Colin de Ville in Stru in the middle of the 14th century to the manor of Claude Simon, current owner since December 21, 1961. The doctor in sciences Frans Doperé brings his own expertise by carrying out a whole new study of the archeology of the building, particularly scrutinizing the stones which provide useful information for a better understanding of the evolution of this particular feudal construction. It is a type of building that has been poorly studied, which touches both the castle and the stronghold, without being either. The book also includes a subtle analysis of stony materials by the geologist and doctor of science Francis Tourneur. The publication is introduced by a preface by Philippe Destatte, Director General of the Destrée Institute, which places this rural architectural ensemble in the Walloon heritage context and addresses questions related to classification. Jacques Toussaint draws up the recent history of this widely appreciated property and constitutes an iconographic file on the manor.

L'ASBL Art Research Institute propose un ouvrage inédit consacré à une construction reprise à l'inventaire du patrimoine de Wallonie : le Manoir de Strud (Haltinne). Il repose sur des recherches historiques et archéologiques menées par Hendrik Doperé et son fils Frans dans les années 1970 et suivantes. Hendrik Doperé (1910-1995) trace la succession des différents feudataires et propriétaires depuis la maison qui fut à Colin de Ville à Stru au milieu du 14e siècle jusqu'au manoir de Claude Simon, actuel propriétaire depuis le 21 décembre 1961. Le docteur en sciences Frans Doperé apporte sa propre expertise en réalisant une toute nouvelle étude d'archéologie du bâti en scrutant particulièrement les pierres qui donnent des informations utiles pour une meilleure compréhension de l'évolution de cette construction féodale particulière. Il s'agit d'un type de bâtiment trop peu étudié, qui touche à la fois au château et à la maison-forte, sans être ni l'un ni l'autre. L'ouvrage compte aussi une subtile analyse des matériaux pierreux par le géologue et docteur en sciences Francis Tourneur. La publication est introduite par une préface de Philippe Destatte, Directeur général de l'Institut Destrée, qui replace cet ensemble architectural rural dans le contexte patrimonial wallon et aborde les questions liées au classement. Jacques Toussaint dresse l'histoire récente de cette propriété très largement appréciée et constitue un dossier iconographique sur le manoir.
