- Summary:
- In 1979, Ajay Hasia took the admission exam and interview for a bachelor's degree in Engineering. The case was administered by the Regional Engineering College and consisted of one written exam on English, physics, chemistry and mathematics and an interview conducted by three people. Ajay failed to secure admission onto the engineering course despite achieving high marks in the written examination. Ajay Hasia challenged the results arguing that the admission process violated article 14's right to equality for Indian citizens. The case has become a landmark in the field of constitutional rights.
