- Summary:
- Event planners are responsible for the safety of guests, staff, performers, and event assets. But what steps can an event planner take to prevent or mitigate violence? This case study focuses on the violent and highly publicized shooting tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas in 2017 to help students understand the importance of involving event stakeholders in the planning process. Students will explore the idea of stakeholders as resources by identifying primary and secondary event stakeholders, recognizing the expertise they provide, and recommending improvements to the event by involving these stakeholders in the event planning process.
