『박이문 인문학 전집』의 출간 기획은 2014년부터 시작되었다. 박이문 선생과 부인 유영숙 여사의 격려와 지원을 통해 큰 힘을 손에 쥐고 출발했다. 전집의 목차 구성은 박이문 선생의 인문학적 저작을 주제별·시간대별로 분류한 결과물이다. 제8권 『생태학적 세계관과 문명의 미래』는 서구의 인간중심주의의 과학기술문명을 비판하고, 앞으로의 문명이 지향해야 할 생명·생태중심적 세계관의 대안적 통찰을 피력하는 철학적 담론으로 구성되어 있다. 1부는 과학과 인간, 우주와 자연의 기본적인 개념에 관한 글들이고, 2부는 『과학철학이란 무엇인가』(1993)로 과학과 기술들을 철학적으로 정의하고 있으며, 3부는 『과학, 축복인가 재앙인가』(2009)의 글들로 현대 과학기술문명의 문제점을 진단하고 있다. 그리고 이를 바탕으로 4부에서 문명의 미래, 5부에서 생명, 6부에서 환경, 7부에서 생태에 관해 논한다.
