- Summary:
- This book is a careful historiographical review of PhD Carolina Magaña, researcher at the Faculty of Design of the Universidad Anáhuac and resumes for analysis the instruments of historical and historiographic knowledge studied by Marina Waisman, focused on architecture in Latin America, based on which art deco for Mexico City is shown to be the first architectural movement of the 20th century. Deco architecture is considered to be the pinnacle of Mexican nationalist architectural design, as it was the only one among the four contemporary currents - neocolonial, Californian colonial, modern movement and neo-indigenism - in which various types of buildings were built, with formal elements such as single-family housing, multifamily buildings, public and private buildings, parks, churches, monuments and urban elements. Mainly cinemas and mixed-use buildings, unique in their time, stand out. It was also part of a typological process within the main neighborhoods of Mexico City from 1925 to 1940.
