- Summary:
- Multidisciplinary texts on the rich heritage of the folklore dances in Peru. Although the holidays may have political, labor or agricultural reasons, among others, it is obvious that those of a religious nature prevail. At the time of the Incas, the calendar of the festivities had the sun as one of the main landmarks, precisely because it was considered a divine figure. When the Spanish conquerors arrived, their efforts to remove idolatry failed to completely end these celebrations. Faithful to their traditions, the native settlers managed to adapt the Christian model to their cults, which allowed several of their festivities to remain in force.ʺ (HKB Translation) --Page xvi.
