Ximena Garrido-Lecca (Lima, Peru, 1980. Lives between Lima and Mexico City). Garrido-Leca examines the history of Peru and explores the impact of colonial processes and their contemporary consequences. She has participated in countless exhibitions, including: Cosmopolis#1.5: Enlarged Intelligence, Centre Pompidou in Chengdu, China (2018); the 10th Bienal do Mercosul, Porto Alegre,Brazil (2015); the 1st Bienal de Cartagena de las Indias, Colombia (2014); the 12th Bienal de Cuenca, Ecuador(2014); and ICASTICA, Bienal Internacional de Arte, Arezzo, Italy (2013). "The 34th Bienal presents an exhibition by Ximena Garrido-Lecca: the first solo show of the Bienal reflects on extractivism and colonisation in Latin America. This exhibition is the first in a series of solo shows which precede the main group show of the Bienal, that opens in September 2020." --Biennale webpage.
