Kislak Center copy has laid in "[t]wo early paper bookmarks, likely inserted by same individual. First bookmark enclosed between pp. 16-17 (irregular shape; approx. 5.5 cm x 1.5 cms; chainlines partially visible). Print image of a flower, coloured by hand in green, red and orange. Second bookmark is enclosed between pp. 162-63 (5.8 cm x 2.2. cms; one chainline visible; watermark partially visible but difficult to identify). Annotated in early hand with an extract from a letter written by Gui Patin (cardinalis est draco furio- / sus animal rubrum capax / et vorax omnium beneficiorum / Gui P. Med. Lett 20[?])"--Bookseller's description.
Kislak Center copy bound in full "contemporary ... calf over pasteboard. Plain covers. Raised bands creating six spine compartments. Gold-tooled title in second spine compartment (LETTR DU PRIN DE CONT). Gold-tooled decoration in remaining compartments. Gold-tooled decoration to sides. Three free endpapers at front and three at rear, marbled pastedowns. endpapers facing pastedowns also marbled. Red speckled edges. Wear to leather at corners, rubbing to leather at sides and head and tail of spine, leather scratched on covers, cracking to joints but binding good"--Bookseller's description.
