Summary:

This is a manuscript of a section of a piyut composed from themes of the Yom Kippur confession (ṿiduy) attributed to Baḥya ben Joseph ibn Paḳuda (Zaragoza, Spain, ca. 1050-1120), the attributed author of the piyut "Ha-shem śefatai tiftaḥ ṿe-leshoni te-tsaḥtsaḥ" (ה' שפתי תפתח ולשוני תצחצח; see Landsuth, Leser, Amude Ha-aboda (Berlin, 1862), pp. 49-50; see also Davidson, Otsar, vol. 1 no. 8112). The piyut without this section was printed widely; this section was first printed independently in Or boḳer, a book of the supplementary liturgy of the community of Ancona (printed in Venice, Nella Stamparia Bragadina, 1708-1709), f. 28v-31r. The manuscript opens with a caption indicating that it is to be inserted after "...and we, [and our fathers] have sinned" and the recitation is to continue into the confession; once the confession is completed, the final catchphrase indicates that the piyut should continue ("אשמנו באומר וכ"ו"; f. 3r).

Script: Written in an Italian square script.
