- Summary:
- Within the Ottoman madrasahs, which were educational institutions at different levels and operating under foundations, there were personnel who carried out both academic and other services with the students. In addition, people from different levels of the ilmiye organization and some other civilians could also reside in some madrasah rooms. These people, who were in the madrasahs either as boarders, for work or for other reasons, naturally entered the field of law among themselves and in social life and had some acts and practices recorded by the courts. This work deals with the dispositions or transactions of the madrasahs and the foundations they are affiliated with, the madrasah personnel and other people residing there, which are recorded in the court records, and thus, it is aimed to shed light on a period from the judicial window. The main field of study of the study is the Istanbul Kadi Registers, and it has been tried to present the different issues that were transferred from the madrasahs to these courts as much as possible.
