Summary:
The History of Education: Education and Social Issues is a diverse collection derived from Primary Source Media's History of Education, a retrospective monograph collection on microfiche. It includes such subjects as education of the poor, education and temperance, education of minorities and immigrants, education of girls, rural education, education and crime, educational sociology, and education at home. It provides a penetrating view of major social problems and conditions through the eyes of educators and reformers. Spanning the long nineteenth century, the collection offers works in the German language, reflecting the enormous contribution to educational philosophy of German scholars of the period; works in English and Romance languages also appear. The collection includes such titles as Education of the Rural Poor, Relations of Education and Industry to Crime and Pauperism, and Child Saving vs. Child Reform.
