- Summary:
- This volume is an outcome of the 2006 International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) Commission meeting held in Nottingham. Many of the authors, through their previous experiences with the Geological Society of London, have developed concepts of material that should be communicated to other professionals, policy makers, politicians, and the public. At the same time, they have recognised with frustration that limited understanding exists among these groups, and that policy decisions are often made without effective input from geoscientists.
