Summary:

Another copy of the photograph is labeled Les Dahomées and said to have been taken at the Jardin Zoologique d'Acclimatation de Paris in 1891. Such troupes toured European capitals and were marketed as Amazonian warriors from West Africa, even if the actors had no connection with the region.
