"Innerhalb der fälschlicherweise Justin dem Märtyrer zugeschriebenen Texte finden sich sechs Traktate stark philosophischen Inhalts, über deren Autorschaft und Kontext bisher nur Vermutungen existierten. Das vorliegende Werk macht zwei dieser Texte erstmals in (kritischer) Edition zugänglich und schafft somit erst die Grundlage, deren Autor näher zu konturieren und historisch einzuordnen: Es handelt sich um einen Nestorianer, der um die Wende vom fünften zum sechsten Jahrhundert nicht nur zu den theologischen Fragen der Zeit Stellung nimmt, sondern auch den Wandel des philosophischen Diskurses dokumentiert, den dieser in besagter Epoche durchläuft. Ähnlich wie die Autoren der Schule von Gaza oder Johannes Philoponus versucht er, die philosophischen Angriffe auf das Christentum - offensichtlich korrespondiert er mit paganen Intellektuellen und zitiert ein unbekanntes Stück aus Julian Apostata - mit deren eigenen Waffen zurückzuschlagen, besonders dem methodischen Rückgriff auf die aristotelische Logik. "Within the texts erroneously attributed to Justin the Martyr, there are six tracts of strongly philosophical content, whose authorship and context have only been conjectured so far. The present work makes two of these texts accessible for the first time in a (critical) edition and thus creates the basis for their author to outline and to classify historically: It is a Nestorian who at the turn of the fifth to the sixth century not only takes a position on the theological questions of the time, but also documents the change in the philosophical discourse that it went through in said epoch. Similar to the authors of the School of Gaza or Johannes Philoponus, he tries to fight back the philosophical attacks on Christianity - obviously he corresponds with pagan intellectuals and cites an unknown piece from Julian the Apostate - with their own weapons, especially methodical recourse f the Aristotelian logic. In addition, the newly developed texts revise the previous image of the denominational landscape of the epoch, insofar as they clearly demonstrate the existence of a Nestorian minority on Reichsboden for the first time.
