- Summary:
- The significance of Charles Curran's influence on Catholic moral theology since the mid-1960s cannot be emphasized enough. From the influence of his writings, to the effect he has had on generations of students for whom he was a well-loved mentor, the field is forever changed by his having been a part of it. With Sixty Years of Moral Theology, Curran closes the series Readings in Moral Theology with a look back on his work. This book displays fully why and how Charles Curran has been a major, pivotal change agent in the Catholic moral theology of a generation, especially in the United States. The dates on which the book's chapters were originally published span over fifty years (1966-2018). Signature themes of Curran's work-historical consciousness, conscience, and his "relationality-responsibility model," for example-emerge with Vatican II, yet evolve with changing environments, up to and including the global face of twenty-first-century catholic moral theology. From the afterword by Lisa Sowle Cahill Book jacket.
