Summary:
A compilation of fiction by Virgilio Díaz Grullón (1924-2001), a Dominican writer, poet and lawyer and considered one of the best short story writers of the Dominican Republic. His work includes fiction with an urban theme and social commentary. His novel Los algarrobos también sueñan is a strong attack on Trujillo. In 1958 he was awarded the Dominican National Prize for Short Story for his book Un día cualquiera (1958), in 1977 he won the Annual Prize for Novel Manuel de Jesús Galván for Los algarrobos también sueñan and in 1997 he received the Dominican Republic National Prize for Literature as recognition of his life's work.
