- According to ODNB the Daily Courant was one of three main pro-government papers (the others being the London Journal and the Free Briton) which were combined to form the Daily Gazetteer in 1735 - Cf. ODNB (Richardson, Samuel); the London Journal, however, appears to continue after 1735.
