- Summary:
- Interviews conducted between 2013 and 2017 that reveal an important part of the professional work of architect Osvaldo Cáceres González (Santiago, Chile 1926, lives in Los Angeles, CA since 1961) and go through the history of a larger group of architects, the generation of professionals to which he belongs. The first interview, in 2013, was carried out for the exhibition Alejandro Presente. Memory from Architecture ʺ, which took place in the hall of the School of Architecture of the Universidad del Bío - Bío. For this reason, it is traversed by Cáceres' professional relationship and friendship with the architect Alejandro Rodríguez Urzúa and their stage as students at the University of Chile. The second, from the year 2017, was carried out for the website Historia Arquitectónica de Concepción, in the context of a series of interviews on social housing in Chile during the second half of the 20th century, focusing on Cáceres' work in state agencies, during the 1960s and the Popular Unity government. "The work carried out by Osvaldo Cáceres on an architectural level was largely embodied in the center of the city of Concepción, forming part of a generation of architects who arrive after the earthquake of 1960 to impregnate the area with a modern idea."
