- Summary:
- In Forgotten Arias, celebrated French countertenor Philippe Jaroussky joins acclaimed early music ensemble Concerto Köln for a unique musical project: together they shed light on the life and work of Antonio Caldara (1670-1736), one of the 18th century's most beloved opera composers whose oeuvre the 21st century is just now rediscovering. A contemporary of Vivaldi, Handel, and Bach, he was among the first to set the great Italian poet Metastasio's librettos to music. This film presents their captivating concert in Munich's historic Prinzregententheater featuring selected arias from the composer's operas for countertenor.
