Summary:
Join superstar German tenor Jonas Kaufmann, eminent Austrian maestro Franz Welser-Möst, and the prestigious Staatskapelle Dresden for their glittering gala concert that rang in 2019! Together they performed Johann Strauss II's operetta Die Fledermaus, a comedic gem brimming over with delightful melodies and champagne-induced hilarity (quite literally... in Act 2 comes the Champagne Song!). Set on New Year's Eve 1874, Strauss's beloved tale of a practical joke gone wild was inspired by a French vaudeville comedy. The high-spirited three-act operetta is shot through with Strauss's signature waltzes and polkas and has been a favorite with audiences since its premiere in April 1874.
