- Summary:
- We are delighted to introduce the program of the 27 th International Conference on Program Comprehension (ICPC 2019), collocated with the 41 st International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2019) in Montréal, Québec, Canada! ICPC is the premier venue for research on program comprehension. Started as an International workshop by Václav Rajlich in 1992, it is now a conference in its 27 th edition. Program comprehension is a vital activity in software development, maintenance, and evolution, and is necessary to facilitate the reuse, inspection, maintenance, reengineering, migration, and evolution of existing software systems. ICPC provides an opportunity for researchers and industry practitioners to present and discuss advances to the state-of-the-art and the state-of-the-practice in program comprehension. Following its long tradition, ICPC strived this year again to be a true conference, welcoming novel, emerging, and early research results. It also emphasised discussions during the presentations of these results by their authors. Thus, ICPC stood firm against a current, unproductive trend of conferences becoming so exclusive that authors prefer to submit to journals first and to conferences second. It also stood firm against multiplying sub-events requiring full registrations. Hence, it promoted this year again equality, inclusiveness, and discussions.
