- Summary:
- It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the fifth edition of the ACM Workshop on Micro Aerial Vehicle Networks, Systems, and Applications for Civilian Use (DroNet '19). The recent and fast advances in technology has made the design and development drone applications cost-effective and appealing to a wide range of mission-critical situations, including search and rescue, surveillance, 3D-mapping, farmland and construction monitoring, delivery of light-weight objects and products, and video production. This workshop brings together researchers and practitioners to discuss exciting new research concerning airborne robotic vehicles, often called 'drones'. We are excited to offer a program of accepted papers that includes topics such as drone-enabled IoT, various aspects important for cellular-connected UAVs, co-existence with existing services, and drone detection. Six papers by researchers from Asia, US, and Europe were accepted for presentation at DroNet '19. We also encourage attendees to attend the keynote talk. This valuable and insightful talk can and will guide us to a better understanding of the future of industry and agriculture: Drones Fueled Revolutions: Into the era of autonomous workers and digital humans, Giovanni Pau (who is currently the ATOS/Renault smart mobility Chair Professor at the University Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris France).
