Summary:
In the 1930s you could read about the actor Adolf Wohlbrück that he is the most beautiful man in German film. Nobody could throw on a white silk scarf as elegantly as he and nobody could let the women swarming around him flash off so coldly. One can already imagine the abysses that he was allowed to play to full in British cinema a decade later under his exile name Anton Walbrook, before he finally aged into the roles "with gray temples" that he was already relying on in the 1950s as a rising star in an interview with the magazine "Filmwelt". In more than 50 films - including masterpieces such as "Viktor und Viktoria", "Masquerade", "The Red Shoes", "La Ronde" - Adolf Wohlbrück and Anton Walbrook could be admired on the big screens, but the Viennese-born loved it no less Spotlight on the stages in Munich, Dresden, Berlin, London, Hamburg and Düsseldorf, especially at the beginning and at the end of his career. With this homage we would like to pay tribute to the work of this gentleman actor for the first time - a master of elegance and restraint, from whose enigmatic charm nobody is safe to this day! With contributions by Dominik Graf, Christoph Hochhäusler, Peter Nau, Daniela Sannwald, Marcel Ophüls, Regina Schlagnitweit, Michael Pekler, a biographical search for traces and an annotated filmography.
