This indenture witnesseth, that [blank] hath put himself, and by these presents, [blank] doth voluntarily, and of his own free will and accord, put himself apprentice to [blank] : to learn his art, trade and mystery, and after the manner of an apprentice to serve [blank] from the day of the date hereof, for, and during, and to the full end and term of [blank] next ensuing. - Text (completed in ms.) begins: This indenture witnesseth, that We George Spinnock & Jacob Dingler overseer of the Poor for the Township in the County of Philad. by and with the consent of the subscribers, two of the Justices of the Peace of & for the County aforesaid have put Andrew Byar son of Dorothy Byar of Potts Town widow a free Negro apprenticeship to George Hughes of Exeter Township in the County of Berks Tanner & Currier to learn his art, trade and mystery, and after the manner of an apprentice to serve him and his apregnos from the day of the date hereof, for, and during, and to the full end and term of Seventy years & three months next ensuing. During all which term, the said apprentice his said master faithfully shall serve, his secrets keep, his lawful commands every-where readily obey. ...
