Summary:
Xanthippe: Just the name, just its first letter arouses curiosity and attention. As often as the word comes up, one becomes prudish and puts on a smile. Like few other personal names from ancient times, Xanthippe is transferred directly and indirectly to a very specific figure: the wife of Socrates. Literature has turned it into a caricature because there are not many reports that are considered authentic, but the incentive to spread stories about it out of the pleasure of antithesis and combative fantasy and throw oneself into interpretations was titanic.
