- A petition to persuade the King to assimilate the Church of England to their own and abolish Episcopacy. The King's answer refuses the proposal, and denies the right of the Scotch to interfere in the affairs of the English Church, but endeavours to prevent the Commissioners from throwing in their lot with the Parliament -- Madan, II, 1275.
- "His Majesties ansvver to a late petition presented unto him by the hands of Mr. Alexander Henderson from the Commissioners of the generall Assembly of the Church of Sctoland [sic]" has caption title on pages 7. It is identified as Thomason E.247[16].
- The year dates are given according to Lady Day dating.
