Authorship of the Eikon basilike was originally attributed to Charles I, but according to Madan (pp. 125-33) it was written by John Gauden who probably included some authentic writings of the king.
Printer's name from Madan; place of publication from Wing; date of imprint given according to Lady Day dating.
Signatures: N² B-M¹² N⁴ (-N4). Final leaf blank, not filmed? (compare Madan).
Madan identifies quires from three settings in copies of this edition; some sheeets printed by Thomas Warren, the rest by Thomas Newcomb
Copy identified on UMI reel 2169 as from the British Library; copy has three Bodleian stamps on the prelims. Copy imperfect; lacking frontis. and final blank leaf; title paged annotated in MS.; tightly bound with print show-through and loss of text.
