- Summary:
- Largely ignored by ethical and political reflection, "weak links" are nevertheless at the heart of contemporary forms of attachment and attention to others: in social networks, in the cultural sphere, in our relationship to urban space or to environment, or in the democratic space of the common. The concept of "weak bonds" was originally coined by the sociologist Granovetter to account for social resources inaccessible to strong bonds (such as family, love, friendship, work, etc.), it allows us to question our relationship to faces, objects, music, fictional characters, feelings, places and situations of everyday life that determine our relationship with others. Through this notion, we can observe in what sense our aesthetic affinities or our ethical and political commitments influence our lives.
