Summary:
"At first glance, self-confidence seems to be part of what almost goes without saying. However, it turns out that, with continued thought, philosophy has given up one of its most difficult and most serious problems. Over fifty years ago, Dieter Henrich's treatise 'Fichte's Original Insight' appeared, which worked out this problem. She showed that it was Fichte who was the first to grasp the problem and make it the central theme of his thinking. The unchanged reprint of this text now follows - as a much more extensive main text - a new series of considerations. They relate to self-confidence in the context of a philosophical foundation and the problems that put Fichte's system formation under the guiding principle of his original insight into a movement without a definite solution. Henrich's book can be seen as a renewal of Kant's way of thinking - in relation to a subject whose importance for philosophy is hardly disputed, in a perspective that is contemporary in the way of experience and in the sequence of clarifications that can be gained if one thinks of the dynamics in Fichte's system formation" --Translated from back cover
