Summary:
Unfinished story of the murder of Colonel Richard Hilton, probably written in England, possibly 1824 (later pencil note, p.1). The colonel's son Richard, older brother William, and niece Mary (daughter of William and wife of the younger Richard) are major characters. The manuscript is written on paper in quarto format with an 1816 watermark and was rebound at a later date in moiré cloth with leather title label, MS. Murder of Col. Richard Hilton ca. 1824, on upper cover. The first five leaves are foliated 6-10; five loose leaves of the same paper as the manuscript are laid in the back of the volume.
