Summary:
A handwritten, paper bound Christmas-themed almanac by an unknown author from Bayswater, London in 1862. The slim illustrated volume consists of 16 pages numbered [2], 23-38 in one gathering. The title page reads: Woodgate's complete letter writer issued once a month with numerous engravings, edited by J. P. & Co.; Edited printed & published by Parker Johnson in the Parish of Bayswater in the city of London ... Small drawings and sayings adorn the cover. The volume is comprised of a monthly calendar listing moon phases, important dates, and some farcical holidays. A majority of the pages have drawings and humorous captions. The last two pages consist of a short article against a student uprising in Belfast, Ireland. This farcical almanac was probably modeled after the book first published in 1756 by Stanley Crowder & Henry Woodgate entitled The complete letter-writer.
