Summary:
African-Americans live today in a society where the realities of life seem to fly in the face of the promises of God. Young black men in particular face a double dilemma: "a hell that dares them to achieve and at the same time annihilates them for cutting against the grain". It is a dilemma that reaps a whirlwind of anger and despair. But according to leading black ministers in Living in Hell, African-Americans can reclaim their identity and direction - through faith in God, belief in self, and a solid moral base. Using compelling examples from the Old and New Testaments, Living in Hell illustrates the triumphs, mistakes, and challenges of the modern African-American Christian.
