Biography/History:
Born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to Joseph C. and Martha Hough Howell. J. Frank Howell began his career in Mid-West railroad offices. He worked for many years as a telegraph operator. He began his career in finance at the Consolidated Stock Exchange of New York where he served as president from 1917 to 1918. He established himself as an independent broker circa 1897 under the name J. Frank Howell Banker and Broker. Howell married Mary Cornelia Fisher in 1882. They lived in Englewood, New Jersey.
Summary:
A small collection of typescript newsletters by J. Frank Howell banker and broker spanning three months from September to December 1909 entitled the Daily Market Letter. The one-page market letter provided daily reports on stock trading and developments in the market. A promotional memo regarding Howell's experience as a broker and a two-page analysis of dividends to be paid in January 1910 is included.
