- Summary:
- This book gathers a selection and multiple readings of pieces from the ESPAC Collection. Instead of making a "conventional" catalog -with historical texts or a selection of works centered on a specific period or problem-, this publication proposes a collective and playful exercise that generates numerous readings and approaches to more than two hundred artworks from the collection. Conceived by Willy Kautz, the exercise consisted in inviting artists, curators, filmmakers, actors, educators, historians, writers, designers and editors respond to a group or artworks with a sentence, as well as a brief text or a visual answer. The result is a series of essays, fictions, poems, drawings and photographs that constitute a wide repertoire of possibilities to approach the artworks in particular and the ambit of the visual in general.
