Summary:
This is a manuscript of a rolled amulet of thick parchment written for the protection of a Ruḥamah bat ʻAziz in childbirth; its former linen wrapper is now housed with the item. It first names a number of demonic angels, and then lists angels of protection next to a six-point star. Written in an informal square script in 42 lines, with a magic symbol at the center (similar to most amuletic forms). The ink is fading and flaking in some places, due to the toughness of the parchment and the use of the roll. The amulet appears to be Middle Eastern, with a distinct Sefardic influence; it is similar to other amulets from late 19th-century Iraq.
